This method of teaching a student to play an instrument was developed by Suzuki’s own ideas and philosophies. His primary vehicle for achieving this is music education on specific instruments like the violin, viola, cello, piano, and more.The Suzuki method has enabled many children to play music to a high standard. Substantial numbers of Suzuki trained students have become highly acclaimed professional musicians. However, the training of professionals is not the main objective: the emphasis throughout is on the development of the whole child, on education through music. This method is unique in various ways. A student’s education is well rounded and does not focus on one particular aspect of learning. Many programs lack in this respect, and the student does not obtain many of the skills needed to become a well-rounded musician. The Suzuki Method has fundamental requirements that will shape and nurture the student. Such requirements for study include listening to Suzuki recordings, attendance of classical music concerts, and daily practice. |
