                                        Lessons

“Any child can be developed, it depends on how you do it”
                                        -Dr. Shinichi Suzuki

Lessons occur once a week.  This is where specific skills are taught and feedback is given to the student.  During lessons, parents observe closely and take careful notes on what is taking place so the lesson can be replicated during practice at home.  Notes should include what is being taught, how it is being taught, the language being used, how the student is responding, what the primary focus is, and specific assignments for the coming week.

The parents should be quiet observers throughout the lessons, asking questions of the teacher for clarification as needed, but should not address the student or correct mistakes while the lesson is in progress.  This allows the student to remain fully focused on the lesson and on the teacher.

                                        Group Classes

Group classes are where students learn to make music.  Group classes develop intonation and ensemble skills and give students practical experience using the skills they are learning in lessons.  Students have the opportunity to observe and learn from and be motivated and challeneged by their peers.
